The Program

The Master’s Program in Media and Everyday life aims to explore the various relationships between media and everyday life, considering “media” as all the technological and institutional platforms and devices used for discursive mediations, and “everyday” as an environment located in space and time and in which several processes of representation, conflicts, and social transformations take place.

From an epistemological point of view, the Program adopts a critical and a dialectical perspective in the analysis of the mediated interactions between subjects and collectivities. This approach goes beyond a common sense approach and everyday life’s apparent banality, which can be understood and transformed.

Thus, PPGMC’s various research projects are guided by the need to examine the media production processes’ everyday happenings and dynamics in their distinct relationships with society and culture.
