Profile

José Antonio has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Communication – Journalism from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES – 1992), a Master’s Degree (2003) and a Ph.D. in Communication (2006) from Fluminense Federal University. He was a Postdoctoral researcher in Media and Everyday Life at Fluminense Federal University in 2014. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of Espírito Santo’s Department of Social Communication. He was the coordinator of UFES’ Postgraduate Program in Communication and Territoriality, from 2014 to 2015. Member of the city of Vitória’s Lacanian School of Psychoanalysis. Research areas and themes: political economy of communication; the internet; digital media and politics; organizational communication; press office; media, everyday life and sociabilities; journalism, pactices and theories; book reports and history of communication, psychoanalysis and communication. He has authored several books, which include: Six Fundamental issues in Strategic Networked Communication (Seis Questões Fundamentais da Comunicação Organizacional Estratégica em Rede), Six Fundamental Strategic Networked Press Office Issues (Seis Questões Fundamentais da Assessoria de Imprensa Estratégica em Rede) (both by Editora Mauad) and the Audiences Justify the Means: Customized Media and Organizational Communication in the Attention Economy (Os Públicos Justificam os Meios – Mídias Customizadas e Comunicação Organizacional na Economia da Atenção, published by Editora Summus)
